Director of Operations

Jon Hagemann is the Director of Operations at Nuclear Fuel Services (NFS). He joined the NFS team in 2014. 

In addition to his current position, Hagemann has served as the Work Management Section Manager and Operations Section Manager for NFS.  Prior to arriving at NFS, Hagemann served at the Y-12 National Security Complex as a production manager responsible for final product assembly, dismantlement activities, quality evaluation, and shipping container refurbishments.  While at Y-12, he received two Defense Programs Awards of Excellence based on significant work completed in support of national security and defense programs.

Hagemann is a navy submarine veteran with more than 26 years of service.  He completed his naval career at Norfolk Naval Shipyard, where he served as the Submarine Force Commander’s representative overseeing submarine availabilities and ensuring the readiness of each crew to successfully complete required reactor safeguards exams and achieve certification to return to sea at the completion of each availability.

Other noteworthy assignments include serving as Commanding Officer, Naval Submarine Support Center, Kings Bay; Deputy Commander, Submarine Squadron 16, and Executive Officer, USS DALLAS (SSN 700).  In 2003, he deployed to Djbouti, Africa, where he managed operations at the Joint Task Force, Horn of Africa, and the Joint Special Operations Task Force Crisis Response Element supporting anti-terrorism activities and humanitarian efforts in the Horn of Africa countries, Kenya and Yemen. 

Hagemann’s personal awards during his naval career include the Defense Meritorious Services Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (four awards), Navy Commendation Medal (three awards), and Navy Achievement Medal (four awards).

Hagemann’s education includes Masters of Science in Chemical Engineering and Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas.  His master’s thesis, Dispersion of Hydrogen Sulfide Over West Texas Oil Fields, was published in 1994.
