NFS continues to lead the way in many site remediation projects for clients across America. As a team member at the Fernald Environmental Management Project in Ohio, NFS is responsible for waste shipping and large remediation projects at the nation's largest DOE nuclear clean-up project. The company has also managed large-scale clean-ups of surface impoundments containing calcium fluoride that is contaminated with low-level radioactivity.

The company is also a leader in medical waste landfill clean-up projects. The company has performed clean-ups for several universities, including Duke and Emory. Both were faced with the clean-up of landfills containing laboratory wastes contaminated with radiation from past medical experiments.

In both projects, NFS helped the universities remediate the sites, package and ship the wastes and work with regulators until final closure and release of the sites for other uses.
