Plutonium - More Information

NFS has always been at the forefront of advanced nuclear fuel processing and manufacturing. For example, NFS was recovering and purifying plutonium from spent commercial reactor fuel as early as 1966. NFS was also the first to recycle both uranium and plutonium from spent fuel assemblies from one reactor and reuse the material as fuel for a different reactor.

Although fuel manufacturing operations using plutonium were discontinued in the 1970's, NFS continues to maintain its expertise in handling plutonium materials and equipment. Want to learn more about NFS' plutonium experience?
